SoopBook

Guide
SoopBook’s concept
SoopBook books embody a new way to understand literature. By reading a SoopBook you do not merely follow a single line of argument but instead, with the help of several users, develop many different versions of the story. Thus, at the end of each chapter, the reader is offered several options on how the story can be continued and even has the chance to add his own version.
Users evaluate each of the chapters by means of a vote. Once the book is finished, the story that is build up of the most voted chapters, ends up being the best story and thus, the best version of the book. This makes a SoopBook different from any other book format on the market since, as it is written by several authors and the best story has been voted by many readers, it combines and reflects a combination of styles and ideas that would be impossible to find in a traditional book.
Legend
Pending chapter: Votes are required to be continued
Active chapter: If you wish, you may add a continuation
Completed chapter: The chapter has reached the maximum number of possible continuations. You may now only read, vote and/or move on to the next chapter.
Censored chapter: Someone marked the chapter as unsuitable. If you do not agree, you may reject the censorship request.
Types of SoopBook
In order to allow for different styles and stories, there are three kinds of SoopBook available. They differ by chapter length and by the maximum number of chapters. The three different kinds are:
Fast or SMS book: up to 140 characters per chapter. This type is just the right format for a lively and enjoyable story or, for instance, for a compilation of jokes or quotes.
Standard book: between 200 and 5,000 characters per chapter.
Free book: Chapters of any length. This type allows you to develop lengthier stories without imposing any limits to the chapter homogeneity.
Creation process of a SoopBook
Usual process
A SoopBook begins when a user creates a book. In order to create a book go to the option "Create a new book" on the right hand menu. At the beginning you may create only a limited number of books, but with time you will be able to obtain new credits. Next to the option "Create a new book" you will be able to see the number of credits available for the creation of books.
You will then need to fill out a form by giving some details on how you wish your SoopBook to look like. Just run your mouse cursor over the different help icons in order to view a detailed explanation of each field.
Once the book has been created, you may add the first chapter. In order to add the first chapter to a book, click on the link "Add the first chapter". An editor window will open in which you will be able to type the content of the chapter. Run your mouse cursor over the help icons in oder to view the detailed explanations.
The chapter is published in a pending status. This means that the chapter may be read, voted and commented by the remaining users, but not continued.
Once the chapter has reached the number of required votes to be validated, the chapter is activated. An active chapter means that a further chapter may be added, as long as the maximum options available has not been reached. You may write all the chapters you wish since, unlike books, there is no limit to the number of chapters that can be written.
Should alternatives for chapter continuation have been offered, you may decide to follow one of the suggested continuations or add your own continuation to the chapter.
Once the maximum options available to continue an active chapter has been reached, this chapter is considered to be complete. This means that you may vote, comment on, read and follow each of the options, but no further continuations to the chapter may be added.
Chapters with an unsuitable content
You might sometimes see chapters with an unsuitable content, with a content that does not match the argument of the story or that is just full of spelling mistakes or abbreviations. In these cases, and as long as the chapter has not been activated, the reader has the chance to mark the chapter as censored and subject to review.
If a chapter is censored, despite the fact that it might have reached the required number of votes, it will not be activated as long as the censorship request has not been cancelled by a certain number of readers or by the SoopBook team.

End of book
Whenever a path has reached the required length, the user will be informed by the system that he may mark his chapter as the end of this path. A SoopBook is considered to be finished when all its story lines have come to an end.
